Our story
From the breaking yards to your engine room
Alang handles a substantial share of the world's ship recycling. Every vessel that arrives carries machinery with serviceable life left in it — main engines, auxiliary sets, governors, turbochargers, pumps, switchboards. Most of it is perfectly sound. The difficulty has always been knowing which.
FK Marine Associates was founded to answer that question properly. We work the yards directly, inspect machinery before it is cut out, and take only what we would be prepared to run ourselves.
What follows is unglamorous and essential: strip-down, measurement against original tolerances, replacement of what is worn, and testing under load. A governor leaves our bench configured for the application it is going to. An engine leaves having run.
Our customers are ship owners, repair yards, machinery traders and brokers — in India and well beyond it. Many of them we have never met in person, which is precisely why our condition reports have to be accurate.

Tested, not assumed
Every engine, governor and turbocharger is stripped, inspected and bench- or load-tested before it is offered. If we cannot verify it, we say so.
At the source
Being based at Bhavnagar puts us on the doorstep of Alang. We assess machinery in situ, before removal, while its running history is still traceable.
Straight answers
Condition reports reflect what we found. Buyers who ship equipment across oceans cannot afford optimistic descriptions, and we do not give them.
